I came from Thailand and I have undergraduate degreed in architecture. During my final year, I was focusing on interaction between physical architectural space and simulation in virtual world. I have done a lot of experiment of kinetic model by using circuit board called “phidget”. However a lot of these experimental projects were missing.
Toys: I do not quite sure which one is my favorite because I have a lot of toys during my childhood and I think each of the toys has its own favorite moment.
When I was young, I loved to modified or re-built my toys. I had a series of action figures (especially spider-man). After a while of playing with it, I started added parts to them. I believed that I caught this habit by obsessively playing LEGO.
One of the early digital toys, I like is a DIGIMON. It is a 3*2 inch device with a monotone display and three buttons. The goal is simple, you have to taking care of your newly hatch monster. The monster will keep evolving accounting to how you talking care of him. The highlight is that you can command your monster to battle with your friend’s monster.

Jenn Kaye – Introduction
I grew up in Minneapolis, MN and moved to Brooklyn after graduating from Washington University in St. Louis in 2008. I have a BFA in Visual Communications and a second major in Philosophy. Since then, I’ve worked as an interaction designer for web and mobile in NYC.
I’m a child of the 90’s, so I enjoy the occasional Koosh Ball, Troll doll, and Cabbage Patch kid… but I remember loving my Skip-It dearly (and wearing out the counter after years of skipping up and down my driveway).
I’m in P-Comp because I want to make cool, weird stuff! Let’s do it! -

Assignment for Sept 28th Class
1)
Make a Project with 4 Buttons, 4 LEDs, and one Speaker. Color Code the Buttons and the LEDs. IF buttons 1-3 are pressed, the corresponding LED lights and the speaker makes a tone. When the 4th Button is pressed it makes the KnightRider light effect.
2)
Blog 3 projects are Maker Faire that you like. Include one photo, project Name, Creator’s Name, and 2-3 sentences why you like it.

I have a background in Design Engineering and…
I have a background in Design Engineering and have mostly worked with industrial design and concept development.
During my studies and projects I’v worked on, I have touched physical computering and electronic components a little.I often found a challenge in completing my ideas, especially technical complex products or Ideas, in terms of whats reasonable and realistic. Thereto I have worked a lot with proto typing, and have been eager to get my hands on som more coding tools like arduino!

My background is in Art History and Fine Arts (specifically sculpture).
The toy that stood out for me from my childhood was the fading helium balloon as I tried to play ‘keep it off the ground, off the couch, chair – basically keep it in the air’. I grew up in a neighborhood with other kids my age so I also loved games with others – roller racers and crossfire were 2 favorites.

Im Elizabeth. My background education is in studio art and ethnic studies, from the University of Colorado-Boulder.I have been very interested in this class because I love creating the physical, and think pcomp enables giving live to inanimate objects. I also like building with my hands, and using tools. I have done some pcomp thats been self-taught and through soft circuits, but want the foundation grounding of this class.I hope to have a better understanding of arduino code, and how best to build, as well as gain more skills for a kinetic sculpture I am working on.My favorite “toy” (i mainly entertained myself outside with games) was GoGo the walking pup, which I tried to turn into my servant. -

I studied Material Science Engineering at Cornell before working as Tech Support Engineer for a software company in California. I went back to school and got a bachelor’s in Philosophy & Mathematics from USF and pursued an MA in Religious Studies. Currently, I am finishing my MA in Liberal Studies from The New School for Social Research.The theoretical framework of my interests are based on the work of Bruno Latour, a theorist and a principle developer of Actor-Network Theory. Latour talks about the social-technical assemblages that conditions existence, and through this concept suggests in part that humans and technology are co-actors and co-actants in the development of reality.Practically, I am very much excited by Data Visualization and Information Graphics, and I want to continue to develop the theories of Latour and others through work in Data Viz. I think while the field has grown exponentially in the past few years, and while there exists literally petabytes of data that could be explored and visualized productively, one challenge that we face in attempting to understand our existence through data visualization is capturing the “thickness” of everyday living and moving for people across the planet. Right now the process of collecting data, especially data of our human experiences is often manual and intentional, i.e. through journalling or other logging processes we must make a conscious note to measure and record each data point. Certain advancements have been made in automated location tracking, but it seems that much more could be discovered through the advancement and development of biofeedback, visual, textual and aural tracking and data logging tools. My hope is that through my work in Physical Computing I can explore how we might be able to liberate the data of the everyday. -
